Friday, 6th November 2015. That date will remain for a long time in memory of fans of Years and Years band.
A British Trio came to Dublin to play first headline show in Ireland which was the last position at their 2015 UK and Ireland tour list. As a perfect place to end the tour they chose the Olympia Theatre, where thousands of fans gathered to have a great time with music of their favourite group.
As a theatre employee claims: ‘’There were approximately 1620 fans in the theatre each night”. She also said that was their first show there and the performance was great. During the sow Years & Years presented to the audience songs from debut album called ‘Communion’, which came out this summer. People could also hear a cover of Britney Spears famous song ‘Toxic’. BBC Sound of 2015 winners know exactly how to make an amazing show and they did that on Friday night.
Perfect interaction with the audience and the lack of restraint has ensured that Olly, Emre and Mikey felt like home. The public love them and people was having such a good time during the concert. Alex, the lucky girl that Olly took on stage, says: ‘’ I was waiting for six hours and got bruises, it was so worth it’’. After that she adds: ‘’It was just f***ing great once in a lifetime experience’’. Another fan of the band Kasey, who was at three shows in a row, (one in Belfast and two in Dublin) claims: ‘’It was amazing at the Dublin show, the crowd chanted and Olly brought girls on stage to dance with him and everyone in the crowd was dancing with each other, the lights were unbelievable too, they were so much better than the Belfast show the day before’’.
Fans enjoyed that night so much and they really hope that Y&Y will be back in Dublin very soon.
